This year, Wrocław Theatre Award has been presentd to the actress and director Barbara Wysocka.
The other nominees were Grzegorz Bral – „for a deep, existential reading of classics in the production Macbeth” (Song of the Goat Theatre) and Jarosław Fret – „for the International Theatre Festival World as a Place of Truth, or for the creation of an artistic event on an international scale, which returned Wrocław to the map of world theatre”.
The Chapter awarded Barbara Wysocka for a successful attempt of finding an alternative theatrical language in the production Kaspar, staged in her own direction in the sason 2008/2009 at Wrocławski Teatr Współczesny. It is already for the third time in the five years of the history of the award that it goes to an artist collaborating with the theatre directed since 1999 by Krystyna Meissner. In the first edition (2005) it was won collectively by the authors of A Clockwork Orange , and in the third one (2007), the creative team of
Transfer!.

The Chapter, led by the director of the Department of Culture of the City Council, Jarosław Broda, gathers Wrocław journalists. Professional obligations made it impossible for Barbara Wysocka to come to Wrocław – she is currently abroad, shooting scenes for the movie Nachmieter directed by Marc Metzger. On her behalf, Szymon Czacki, playing the title role in Kaspar, received the award from the Mayor Rafał Dutkiewicz.
