"Transfer!" - return from Serbia - invited to Slovenia

“Transfer”, directed by Jan Klata, showed on 2 June by Wrocławski Teatr Współczeny at 56th International Theatre Festival "Sterijno Pozorje" in Novi Sad has just returned to Poland. The Serbian audience received the performance  very intently. Today, this shocking story about a tragic interdependence between fates of individuals, arbitrary decisions and political conflicts sounds very up to date in this region. During the meeting after the performance the audience and journalists could meet not only the director but also dramatists of the show: Dunja Funke and Sebastian Majewski, as well as two out of several Polish and German participants: Zygmunt Sobolewski and Matthias Goeritz.

After the Novi Sad performance “Transfer!” received an invitation to Slovenia to “Borštnikovo srečanje” theatre festival in Maribor, which starts on 19 October 2011.

Following their return from Serbia Sebastan Majewski – the dramatist of the performance – noted down: “I am general Radko Maldič – this is the most often quoted phrase in Serbia after 31 May 2011. 80% of the society opposes Maldič’s extradition to Hague – this is the most surprising public survey. Farmers from Vojvodina blocking roads – this is the most recognizable social situation. And against this background “Transfer!” – a performance about Polish and German history, about memory and cooperation (a possibility to cooperate). The performance was watched in Novi Sad  with interest and reserve. How distant it is from Serbian mentality, expectations and willing. In Serbia “Transfer!” is a fairy tale – a mystic story which was heard out, yet its moral will reach them in about 30 years. It is a shame but it was worth it anyway”.
